Sciatica is a common problem for many people that is identified by pain that starts in the lower back or buttocks, and then travels down to one or both legs. It will vary in terms of frequency, severity, or it may be constant. 

 

The pain from sciatica can be severe, and it can also be very sharp. It may be associated with numbness, burning, or tingling sensations.

The problem that causes sciatic pain is often a misaligned vertebra in the spine. The sciatic nerve starts in the lower back and extends into the lower leg. This is why the pain can often be felt anywhere along this nerve.
